Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment, including PLC Rivard trenchers, backhoes, excavators, dozers, and ancillary tools.
• Operate machinery to diagnose defects, troubleshoot issues, and verify repairs.
• Weld, fabricate, and hard-face wear components on trenchers to extend equipment life.
• Conduct thorough inspections of all company equipment and submit detailed inspection forms.
• Order parts, complete requisition forms accurately, and manage inventory to minimize downtime.
• Assist supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates with mechanical tasks, providing training and guidance as needed.
• Communicate maintenance concerns effectively with crew leaders and team members.
• Follow all safety protocols, wear required PPE, and participate in daily safety meetings.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area and equipment to support efficient operations.
• Complete assigned tasks within project timelines while maintaining quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 2-5 years of related mechanical experience in heavy equipment. 
• Willingness to travel 100% and relocate to job sites nationwide.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds, perform manual labor, handle frequent bending and lifting, and work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent collaboration abilities.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screenings and background checks.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year post-secondary mechanical program.
• Comprehensive knowledge of equipment maintenance, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, emissions systems, and diesel/gasoline engines.
• Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety certification.
• Hands-on experience in construction or underground utility projects.
• Experience with construction hand tools and power equipment.

Work Environment & Conditions

• Field-based with 100% travel; per diem for meals/lodging and paid transportation provided.
• Schedule: Monday-Saturday, 7 AM-5 PM, with overtime during peaks and flexibility for family needs.
• Outdoor exposure to weather (rain, heat); safety gear and training supplied.
• Physical demands: Lifting, standing, bending, walking, pushing, reaching, fine dexterity, and operating machinery for extended periods; accommodations for disabilities.
