The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of construction machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes, to perform tasks such as digging, grading, trenching, and material handling. This role supports site preparation for construction projects by following project plans, ensuring precision in excavation work, and adhering to safety standards. The operator conducts routine equipment inspections, performs basic maintenance, and communicates effectively with site supervisors and crew members to ensure efficient workflow. A strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work in varying weather and terrain conditions are essential.
Key Responsibilities
· Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and skid steers
· Perform tasks including digging, grading, trenching, material handling, loading/unloading and transporting heavy equipment
· Conduct pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance on equipment
· Follow all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe work environment
· Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes
· Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and other operators
· Identify and report equipment/vehicle malfunctions or job site hazards
· Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
· Proven experience operating heavy equipment (construction or similar industry)
· Valid driver’s license, CDL A preferred
· Knowledge of equipment maintenance and safety procedures
· Problem solving abilities and forward thinking
· Strong teamwork and communication skills
· Ability to sit, stand and operate machinery for extended periods
· Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
· Adaptable to work environment and weather conditions: outdoor sites with exposure to noise, dust and varying weather conditions
