    Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This role is essential for site preparation, clearing, and underground utility projects. You will be responsible for operating various heavy machines—including excavators, skid steers, and dozers—to move earth, clear debris, and prepare residential or commercial sites for development.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical aptitude, a deep understanding of site grading, and a commitment to precision and safety on every job site.

    Requirements

    • Machine Operation: Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment (excavators, mini-excavators, skid steers, and backhoes) for trenching, grading, and light demolition.

    • Site Preparation: Execute land clearing, debris removal, and rough/finish grading according to project blueprints and GIS mapping specifications.

    • Maintenance & Inspection: Perform daily pre-operation safety checks and routine maintenance (greasing, fluid checks) to ensure equipment longevity and minimize downtime.

    • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA standards and company safety protocols, including "Call Before You Dig" (811) regulations to avoid underground utility strikes.

    • Project Collaboration: Coordinate with site foremen and ground crews to ensure grade stakes are followed and production targets are met.

    • Documentation: Assist in tracking equipment hours and fuel usage for project billing and fleet management software.

    • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating heavy machinery specifically in underground utilities or residential landworks.

    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading site plans, understanding elevation markers, and executing precision trenching for utility lines.

    • Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in Florida weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and climb on/off heavy equipment.

    • License: Valid driver’s license (CDL Class A or B is a significant plus for transporting equipment).

    Benefits

    • Competitive hourly wages based on experience.

    • Opportunity to work with modern, well-maintained equipment.

    • A professional environment focused on operational precision and growth.
