Overview
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused professional to operate heavy equipment in support of site preparation, material handling, grading, excavation, and other field operations. The ideal candidate takes pride in delivering high-quality work, follows established safety procedures, and collaborates effectively with team members to keep projects moving efficiently and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, skid steers, graders, or other machinery as assigned.
- Perform site preparation, excavation, trenching, grading, lifting, loading, and material movement tasks.
- Conduct pre-operation and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is functioning properly and safely.
- Identify and report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow all company policies, job site rules, and safety regulations, including PPE requirements.
- Work closely with supervisors, crew members, and other trades to complete work efficiently and accurately.
- Assist with general labor tasks when equipment operation is not required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and help ensure equipment is properly secured and stored.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in construction, utilities, landscaping, mining, roadwork, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of equipment controls, load capacities, safety practices, and basic maintenance procedures.
- Ability to read and follow instructions, site plans, grade stakes, or other project information as needed.
- Strong awareness of surroundings and the ability to work safely in dynamic job site environments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work well as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform job-related tasks, including standing, walking, climbing, and lifting as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or training related to heavy equipment operation or safety.
- Experience operating multiple types of machinery.
- Knowledge of grade work, site development, or underground utility work.
- Experience working in fast-paced field environments with changing priorities.
