HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Heavy Equipment Operator I-This is the entry level class in the Heavy Equipment Operatorseries. This class is distinguished from the Heavy Equipment Operator II by theperformance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions in the seriesincluding the operation of a smaller scope of heavy equipment. Employees in this classwork under immediate supervision and are not expected to perform with the sameindependence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures andguidelines as are positions allocated to the journey level.
Experience and Training Guidelines
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the requiredknowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be
Experience
One to two years of responsible experience performing maintenance workpreferably involving the operation of construction equipment.
Training
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by training inconstruction and equipment operation.
License or Certificate
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate valid drivers license.
