The City of Livingston is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to support daily operations within the Public Works Department, primarily in the Water and Sewer division. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and improving City infrastructure through the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment and hands on utility work.
This role is responsible for operating equipment such as backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, and excavators to support street, water, and sewer construction and maintenance projects. Work includes excavation, grading, pipe installation, and repair of underground utilities, often in close proximity to existing infrastructure. In addition to equipment operation, the position assists with general maintenance tasks, equipment inspections, and job site safety.
The ideal candidate has experience working with heavy equipment in utility or construction settings, strong attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain required certifications, including a CDL, are necessary. This position requires working outdoors in varying conditions and may include emergency response, overtime, or on call responsibilities as needed.
