Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator – Telehandler

Job Description

This role involves safely operating a telehandler and other heavy equipment to move truss construction materials around a job site. You will support daily construction activities bytransporting, loading, and unloading materials while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work area during a 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. shift.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a telehandler to move, load, and unload truss construction materials safely and efficiently around the job site.

  • Use heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, track hoes, backhoes, excavators, and forklifts to support construction operations as needed.

  • Inspect equipment before and after use to identify and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.

  • Follow site safety procedures and equipment operation guidelines at all times to prevent accidents and damage.

  • Coordinate with site supervisors and crew members to ensure materials are placed accurately and on schedule.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper staging and storage of materials.

  • Adapt to changing site conditions and tasks while maintaining high standards of safety and productivity.

  • Complete assigned tasks within the scheduled 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. shift, including occasional additional duties related to material handling.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in heavy equipment operations.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a telehandler forklift.

  • Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, track hoes, backhoes, excavators, and forklifts.

  • Strong understanding of safe equipment operation practices in a construction environment.

  • Ability to handle truss construction materials safely and efficiently.

  • Capability to follow instructions, site procedures, and safety protocols consistently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on construction sites or in similar heavy equipment environments.

  • Comfort operating multiple types of heavy equipment as job needs change.

  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail while operating equipment.

  • Reliable work habits and the ability to maintain productivity throughout the full shift.

Work Environment

This position is based on an active construction site where you will primarily work outdoors. You will operate telehandlers, front-end loaders, track hoes, backhoes, excavators, forklifts, and other heavy equipment to move and stage truss construction materials. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., requiring comfort with extended periods of equipment operation and physical activity in varying weather conditions. You will follow site safety rules, including appropriate workwear such as sturdy boots, high-visibility clothing, and other personal protective equipment as required by the site.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
