ABOUT

The AIS Infrastructure Group consists of four heavy civil construction companies. Our services include infrastructure improvement heavy civil construction and site development for government and state agencies and private enterprise across the United States. We do a wide variety of heavy civil projects including highways, bridges, power plants, dams, and reservoirs, underground utilities, and more.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining construction equipment to facilitate the successful execution of construction and industrial services projects. This position requires a strong knowledge of equipment operation, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with the team.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate and maintain construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and compactors. • Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions to complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately. • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance. • Safely load, transport, and unload materials using appropriate equipment and techniques. • Collaborate with project teams to coordinate equipment operations and ensure project deadlines are met.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Minimum of 5 years experience operating construction equipment. Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secured facilities, including military bases. Proficient in operating a variety of construction equipment. Strong understanding of construction processes and techniques. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to equipment operation. Ability to interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications. Familiarity with GPS and other relevant construction technology. Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment issues. Attention to detail in executing tasks accurately and efficiently. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Customer service mindset for interacting with project stakeholders. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and follow instructions. Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Valid drivers license. Familiarity with relevant tools, equipment, and software used in the industry. Certification in equipment operation is preferred.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS

Works primarily outdoors at construction sites, exposed to various weather conditions. May encounter hazardous materials or other safety considerations. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, and operating equipment for extended periods. May be required to work flexible hours or shifts based on project needs.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical requirements include lifting and carrying heavy objects, climbing, bending, and operating machinery. Mental demands may include working under pressure, managing multiple tasks, and adapting to changing project requirements. Ability to work in various weather conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, or snow.
