Job Description

Manage all day-to-day field operations on heavy highway construction projects. Coordinate and supervise field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and equipment resources. Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure milestones and completion dates are achieved. Work closely with Project Managers to track budgets, production goals, and resource allocation. Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, permits, and contractual requirements. Lead daily safety meetings, enforce company safety policies, and promote a strong safety culture. Monitor productivity, quality control, and project progress to identify and resolve issues proactively. Coordinate inspections with owners, engineers, and regulatory agencies. Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, manpower logs, and production tracking. Manage construction activities related to earthwork, roadway construction, utilities, drainage, concrete, paving, structures, MOT/traffic control, and related infrastructure work. Participate in project planning, sequencing, and procurement efforts. Mentor and develop field personnel to support workforce growth and succession planning.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Heavy Highway Superintendent should have: 8+ years of heavy highway or heavy civil construction experience, including leadership responsibility on large-scale infrastructure projects. Proven experience supervising roadway, highway, bridge, site development, utility, or transportation construction projects. Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, and productivity management. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules. Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency with project reporting and construction management software is preferred. Ability to effectively manage multiple crews and subcontractors in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to project execution. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
