    National Airlines, based in Orlando, FL, operates passenger charter service as well as customized military and commercial air cargo carriages worldwide. National Airlines specializes in over-sized, time sensitive, and special handling requirements, utilizing 747-400 and A-330 aircraft to accomplish its missions.


    Job Title: Heavy Maintenance Representative

    Location: Orlando, FL (Home Based)

    Department: Maintenance

    Reports To: Manager Heavy Maintenance

    FLSA Status: Exempt


    Essential Functions:

    • Participates in the company's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with the responsibilities detailed in the Safety Management System Manual.
    • Supervises and reviews the work of aircraft mechanics at the maintenance facility and ensures a high standard of performance.
    • Takes action to ensure that personnel are qualified.
    • Ensure adequate safety precautions are observed in operational performance.
    • Reviews paperwork generated by the maintenance station for accuracy and completeness.
    • Monitors station staffing and schedule to ensure adequate maintenance coverage and operational efficiency.
    • Maintains contact with Maintenance Control regarding the aircraft’s condition.
    • Forwards copies of repair information to Maintenance Control as work is completed. Sends original paperwork to Aircraft Records.
    • Maintains current inventory of flyaway kits, including serviceable parts, unserviceable parts, and tools.
    • Coordinates the return of used parts.
    • Reviews aircraft fleet performance, work with maintenance control to address critical MEL items and operational impact items.
    • Assists flight crews with troubleshooting of problems.
    • Retrieves technical information from aircraft manuals, company manuals, and other approved resources in order to troubleshoot, repair, and identify parts.
    • Coordinates Service Bulletin implementation and works card review with Quality Control.
    • Coordinates repairs and troubleshooting with company and contract maintenance personnel.
    • Provides updates for Aircraft modifications to all departments.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibility: Technicians and other maintenance department employees.


    Competencies:

    • Ability to learn and use technical manuals, good mechanical aptitude and ability solve problems effectively.
    • Good leadership qualities and ability to work alone making good decisions under pressure.
    • Good communication skills verbal, written and via email.
    • Organized self-directed individual who is a team player.
    • Must be able to prioritize effectively.

    Experience, Qualifications & Skills:

    • Have at least three years maintenance experience on different types of transport category aircraft with an air carrier.
    • Must have at least a high school diploma
    • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid passport.
    • Prefer 5 plus years’ experience on same type aircraft operated by National Airlines (747,757).
    • Prefer 5 plus years Maintenance Control experience and/or Aircraft Maintenance Supervisory experience with an air carrier operating same type aircraft operated by National Airlines.
    • Analytical skills and good judgment / decision making.
    • Excellent written and verbal skills required.

    Certificates/Licenses:

    • Must possess a valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Power plant rating.

    Physical Demands:

    • Extended periods at workstation with aircraft, may be required to travel to work aircraft AOG situation.

    Work Environment:

    • The work environment is generally at offsite facility with MRO where aircraft are sent for maintenance.

    Travel/Other Requirements:

    • Must be able to travel for maintenance activities and/or aircraft familiarization and troubleshooting.
