Description
Position Purpose
Receive and log problem reports into the Incident Database. The operator assesses the severity of the reported problem and assists the caller when possible. If problem resolution requires a technician or programmer/analyst, a message is forward to the proper personnel. The Help Desk staff also maintains the Tape Backup system by preparing the tapes for the daily backups, and logging the tapes after the backups are completed.
Examples of Duties
Essential Functions, Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive phone calls at the help desk and perform the required activities to complete the calls.
- Manage the Tape Backup process on a daily basis.
- Operate PC's to execute batch jobs and generate reports.
- Manage the receiving and distribution of reports and documents through the control window.
- Maintain Inventory of Toner Cartridge Distribution.
- Responsible for receiving shipments of supplies and hardware, and maintaining asset inventory.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Position Requirements
- College Degree or Certification (or progress towards) in troubleshooting, installing and maintaining PC software including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office.
- College Degree or Certification (or progress towards) in troubleshooting, installing and maintaining PC hardware and related devices.
- Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute.
