A civil engineering and construction management firm is seeking a Help Desk Technician/Specialist to provide day-to-day IT support for a large-scale public port infrastructure program. This is a hands-on technical support role responsible for responding to end-user requests, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining IT documentation, and supporting network and telecommunications systems in a dynamic, fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as first and second point of contact for IT support requests, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a timely manner.
• Log, track, and close support tickets using a helpdesk ticketing system; maintain accurate records of issues and resolutions.
• Set up, configure, and maintain end-user workstations, laptops, peripherals, and mobile devices.
• Support and troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including wired, wireless, and VPN access.
• Assist with telecommunications systems, including desk phones, VoIP configuration, and basic cabling support.
• Create and maintain IT documentation including user guides, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures.
• Assist in onboarding new project staff, including account setup, equipment provisioning, and initial IT orientation.
• Coordinate with the Help Desk Manager and Network Infrastructure team to escalate and resolve complex issues.
• Support NOC (Network Operations Center) monitoring duties as assigned, including basic incident logging and status reporting.
• Maintain inventory of IT assets and supplies for the project site.

Required Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in an IT help desk, technical support, or desktop support role.
Proficiency with Windows 10/11 operating systems, Microsoft 365, and common business applications.
Experience using helpdesk ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy, Zendesk, or similar).
Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, including troubleshooting connectivity issues.
Familiarity with VoIP phone systems and basic telecommunications support.
Experience with hardware setup and configuration, including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
Ability to work on-site in a construction or infrastructure program environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent certification.
ITIL Foundation certification or familiarity with ITIL service management practices.
Experience supporting IT in a public agency, construction, or infrastructure program environment.
Exposure to NOC monitoring tools or basic network troubleshooting beyond end-user connectivity.
Experience with Active Directory user account management and basic group policy administration.
