This position is responsible for supporting mechanics in the accomplishment of production tasks, including the use of small mechanical and hand tools.

Job description:
Fire watches are used to prevent and/or extinguish fires at the incipient stage. They monitor the hot work sites to ensure that conditions do not change when combustible materials cannot be effectively removed, protected or shielded. If a fire occurs, they take appropriate actions to protect all workers.
· Have a clear view of and immediate access to all areas included in the fire watch.
· Be able to communicate with workers exposed to hot work.
· Be authorized to stop work if necessary and restore safe conditions within the hot work area.
· Remain in the hot work area for at least 30 minutes after completion of the hot work unless the employer or its representative surveys the exposed area and decides that there is no further fire hazard.
· Be trained to detect fires that occur in areas exposed to the hot work.
· Attempt to extinguish any incipient stage fires in the hot work area that are within the capability of available equipment and within the fire watch's training qualifications.
· Alert employees of any fire beyond the incipient stage.
· Activate the alarm if unable to extinguish fire in the areas exposed to the hot work.
· Be physically capable of performing fire watch duties.
Qualifications:
· Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to procedures
· Excellent attendance, reliability, and work ethic
· Leadership potential and ability to enforce safe work practices
· Experience in industrial, ship repair, or NAVSEA environments preferred but not required
· Must be able to obtain and maintain access to all area shipyards and naval bases (DBIDS clearance required)
Physical Requirements:
· Comfortable working at heights and around active hot work operations
· Must wear required PPE for extended periods
· Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
Work Schedule & Hours:
· Full-time position, averaging 48–56 hours per week, including some weekends
· Extended hours may be required during critical operations
· Flexibility and reliability are essential
