Job Summary
The Jr. Machinery Mechanic is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of industrial machinery under close supervision. This entry-level role supports senior mechanics in diagnosing issues, performing basic repairs, and ensuring equipment is safe and operational.
This job profile is intended for entry-level support staff who follow specific instructions and procedures, with supervision provided for non-routine situations. Tasks can be carried out after basic training or demonstration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Primary Functions:
Have and maintain ability to use and operate forklifts
Observe Company Safety Policy and Procedures; follow and support all STS Safety Policies and ISO Procedures
Be on the job site and in your assigned work area at the scheduled time
Must be self-motivated and willing to learn
Handle departments recycling and removing of all trash on a daily basis
Assure all cables, shackles, straps and chains are put away daily
Keep work area clean and well organized during all phases of the project
Work closely and clearly communicate with the other departments, including all Supervisors, Managers, Leadmen and hourly personnel
General cleanup of departments change room / restroom facilities
Provide assistance to Core departments as required
Must follow the STS dress code and maintain a professional appearance at all times
Maintain LEAN objections within the department
Perform specialized task as required
Maintain accurate time sheets on a daily basis
Complete company-required training programs
Secondary Functions/Requirements:
Steam clean and wash parts in the Wash Bay
Transport equipment and parts around department and between departments
Use PPE as identified in risk assessments or other related safety documents
Do not undertake activities that have not been risk assessed, or where an assessment is not available or understood
Report any instances of spillage, uncontrolled exposure or other related safety issues to their line manager
Ensure the correct use of waste segregation facilities and the efficient use of natural resources and raw materials
Must be able to work overtime when necessary
