    Location: Dothan, Alabama
    Schedule: Full-Time | Permanent

    Organization Overview

    This opportunity is with a respected, community-based academic health system serving Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. This is the region’s largest not-for-profit hospital and an extensive primary care and specialty clinic network.

    The organization welcomes both experienced Hematology/Oncology physicians and graduating fellows (2026 and 2027). J-1 waiver support and H-1B visa sponsorship are available for qualified candidates.

    The system includes a large regional medical center, a physician group, a foundation, and affiliations with a college of osteopathic medicine, supporting residency programs in internal medicine, transitional year, and pharmacy. It is deeply committed to clinical excellence, education, and improving the health and quality of life across the communities it serves.

    The flagship medical center is a 420-bed regional referral hub serving over 460,000 residents. It is recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level II Trauma Center, and Chest Pain Center, and also operates the region’s only Level III NICU and inpatient pediatric unit.

    With a medical staff of over 200 physicians across nearly every specialty, the organization fosters a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Ongoing expansion efforts, including significant facility growth, reflect its continued investment in advanced care delivery and innovation.

    Position Summary

    The facility is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Hematology/Oncology Physician to join its growing cancer care program in Dothan, Alabama.This position offers a balanced mix of hematology and oncology services within a well-established multidisciplinary cancer program. Physicians will work alongside a dedicated team of oncology nurses, advanced practice providers, radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, and support staff to deliver comprehensive cancer care.

    The practice provides access to advanced diagnostic and treatment resources, including infusion services, imaging, laboratory support, and tumor board collaboration. Physicians will have the opportunity to build a robust practice while serving a large regional referral population.

    The group is open to 2026 and 2027 Hematology/Oncology fellows as well as experienced physicians.

    Essential Position Responsibilities

    • Diagnose and treat a broad range of hematologic disorders and malignant diseases

    • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care

    • Evaluate and manage benign hematology conditions such as anemia, thrombosis, bleeding disorders, and hematologic abnormalities

    • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and cancer care planning

    • Coordinate care with surgeons, radiation oncologists, primary care physicians, and other specialists

    • Monitor treatment outcomes and provide survivorship care and follow-up services

    • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis

    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)

    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based oncology practices

    Qualifications

    Education

    • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school

    • Completion of an Internal Medicine residency program

    • Completion of a Hematology/Oncology fellowship

    Licensure & Certification

    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and Oncology

    • Eligible for or holding an active Alabama medical license

    • DEA certification

    • Current BLS and ACLS certification preferred

    Experience

    • Open to 2026 and 2027 graduating Hematology/Oncology fellows

    • Experienced Hematology/Oncology physicians are encouraged to apply
