    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

    Receives patient into the treatment area and performs patient data collection and documents appropriately in the EMR.

    Monitors and documents the status of vascular accesses using proper cannulation techniques in accordance with hospital vascular access procedure.

    Documents patient observations and seeks guidance when abnormalities are noted in patient's parameters.

    Monitors and documents in EMR:

    • Patient's vital signs
    • Fluid therapy administration
    • Any other appropriate treatments performed

    Observe hospital policy and procedures for infection control and safety.

    Obtain blood samples per policy and procedure and appropriately send them to the laboratory.

    Sets up and monitors dialysis machines and reverse osmosis water system for correct functioning, responds to visual and audible alarms, and makes appropriate adjustments before, during, and after the dialysis treatment.

    Perform safety checks as directed by the registered nurse prior to, during, and following treatments.

    Reviews dialysis prescription and notes the physical and mental condition of the patient through observation and interview. Document observations appropriately in the EMR.

    Dismantles, cleans, and disinfects dialysis machines and other equipment according to hospital infection control policies and procedures.

    Obtains and sends water and machine cultures to designated lab.

    Notifies Biomedical Technician of any equipment malfunctions.

    Act as a role model and coach for other teammates.

    Performs clerical duties as needed which may include filing, answering phones, ordering supplies, copying, and faxing.

    Attends hospital orientation and mandatory in-services as required.

    Consistent, regular, and punctual attendance as scheduled.

    Other duties as assigned.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    General environment: Works in a well-lit, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.

    May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.

    May be exposed to limited hazardous substances.

    Will be exposed to blood, other body fluids, and infectious organisms.

    May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.

    Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.

    May be scheduled as needed including overtime.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    High School Diploma or GED (Required).

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum of one (1) year working as an acute care PCT, CNA, or CMA, or one (1) year working as an acute care dialysis technician.

    CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES

    Dialysis Technician Certification (CCHT) by a CMS approved state certification program or national certification program (Preferred).

    Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification (Preferred).

    Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire (Required).

    Have near normal vision - Clarity of vision (both near and far), and the ability to distinguish colors.

    Have good manual dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination.

    Standing - Continuously within shift (67-100%).

    Walking - Continuously within shift (67-100%).

    Sitting - Occasionally within shift (1-33%).

    Climbing - Occasionally within shift (1-33%).

    Bending/Stooping - Continuously within shift (67-100%).

    Twist at waist - Frequently within shift (34-66%).

    Pushing/Pulling - Frequently within shift (34-66%).

    Reaching above shoulder - Occasionally within shift (1-33%).
