The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) at El Centro de la Raza, University of New Mexico, is 100% federally funded through the U.S. Department of Education Office of Migrant Education. The program is designed to identify, recruit, admit, and enroll migrant and seasonal farmworker students and provide academic, social, and financial support to help them attain a high school equivalency diploma.
The HEP Recruiter is responsible for recruiting 70 HEP scholars annually from migrant and seasonal farmworker communities throughout Albuquerque and the state of New Mexico. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who can effectively implement recruitment plans, sustain strong community partnerships, and serve as the primary outreach representative of the program.
Community outreach is central to this position. The recruiter will educate potential partners, students, and community members about HEP services while maintaining and expanding a strong recruitment network. Creativity and innovation are encouraged in developing and executing recruitment strategies and activities.
Key Responsibilities
The target population includes students from rural communities, many of whom may be Spanish speaking. Strong rapport-building skills are essential to establish and maintain relationships with students, schools, and community agencies.
Funding Funding is available through June 30, 2027; continuation is contingent upon program needs and federal funding.
