    The University of Miami Health System is initiating a search for Director of Neurogastroenterology and Motility.

    The Motility Lab Director for Digestive Health Services is responsible for the oversight, safety of all patients having motility procedures, and interpretation and reading of studies done by a nurse and tech at UHealth Towers, Lennar Medical Foundation, and Sole Mia. The Motility Lab Director shall be a member of the active Medical Staff, and shall be administratively responsible for working collaboratively with hospital leadership in addressing issues of common concern related to patient care taking place within the Motility Lab. On an annual basis, the performance of the Motility Lab Director shall be evaluated by the Medical Director based on the effectiveness of his/her leadership role and the satisfactory execution of duties.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Assess and improve the quality of patient care and patient satisfaction within the motility labs at UHealth Towers and Lennar.
    • Ensure proper training, education, and oversight for physicians, fellows, nurses, and other staff members in the motility lab.
    • Identify and help resolve conflict between the medical staff of the motility lab and hospital staff;
    • Actively monitors the motility schedules to ensure utilization, and assures there is a process in place for moving patients up when there are cancellations.
    • Assure coverage of faculty in the division for oversight and reading of motility procedures
    • Participate in quality review of motility procedures, performance improvement, utilization review and risk management and patient safety activities as they relate motility procedures.
    • Interpret and help to ensure medical staff compliance with hospital and medical staff bylaws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations and applicable regulatory standards.
    • Support risk management review related to motility lab procedures.
    • Is part of the escalation process for unresolved critical patient care issues related to the discipline.
    • Participate in root cause analyses on the service and when content expertise is needed in RCA’s for other services.
    • Serve as a liaison to other disciplines to improve care coordination or to resolve concerns related to motility.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • D./D.O. Degree Required.
    • ACGME US Internal Medicine Residency.
    • Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship.
    • Board Certification/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine and
    • Florida Medical License prior to start.
    • Previous experience reading motility studies and overseeing studies performed required.
