Sevastopol High School, located in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin, is seeking a Study Hall Coordinator to supervise and support structured study hall periods in a high-achieving academic environment.

High School Associate (Study Hall Supervisor / Instructional Aide)

Position Summary

The High School Associate serves in a dual-support role by providing supervision and academic support to students during study hall periods in the HS library while also assisting teachers and students as an instructional aide. The position promotes a safe, positive, and productive learning environment that supports student achievement, engagement, and school-wide expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Study Hall Supervision

Supervise students during assigned study hall periods and other designated times.

  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment.
  • Monitor student attendance and report absences or concerns according to district procedures.
  • Encourage students to utilize study hall time effectively for academic work and organization.
  • Reinforce school expectations, policies, and behavioral standards.
  • Assist students with accessing academic resources and technology as needed.
  • Communicate concerns regarding student behavior, attendance, or academic progress to appropriate staff members.
  • Monitor hallways, common areas, and student movement as assigned.

Special Education Instructional Aide Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support to individual students and small groups under the direction of classroom/ special education teachers.
  • Support students in completing assignments, projects, and classroom tasks.
  • Reinforce instructional concepts and learning objectives presented by certified staff.
  • Assist in maintaining student engagement and on-task behavior.
  • Support accommodations and modifications as outlined in student plans and teacher directions.
  • Supervise students during classroom transitions and other assigned activities.

General Responsibilities

  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Follow district policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate degree or post-secondary education preferred. Will be required to obtain an associate special education license through DPI if hired.
  • Experience working with adolescents in educational, youth-serving, or community settings preferred.
  • Ability to establish positive rapport with students and staff.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to support diverse learners and foster an inclusive environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the school building for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and supplies.
  • Ability to supervise students in various school settings.

Work Environment

The employee works primarily in a school setting and may be assigned to classrooms, study halls, hallways, cafeterias, and other school environments as needed.
