High School Boys Assistant Basketball Coach

Position Summary:

The Assistant Basketball Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the high school basketball program. This includes helping with practice planning, skill development, game strategy, and fostering a positive, respectful, and disciplined team environment. The Assistant Coach plays a vital role in modeling sportsmanship and helping student-athletes grow both on and off the court.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning and conducting practices, drills, and conditioning programs.

• Support the Head Coach in developing game strategies and managing in-game decisions.

• Provide individual instruction and mentorship to student-athletes to improve skills and understanding of the game.

• Encourage academic accountability, teamwork, and leadership among players.

• Help supervise athletes during practices, games, travel, and team functions.

• Assist with scouting opponents, film review, and player evaluations.

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes at all times.

• Promote and uphold the values, policies, and expectations of the school and athletic program.

• Attend team meetings, coaching clinics, and district-required trainings or events as needed.

• Support communication between coaches, players, families, and school personnel.
