Assistant Coach - High School Boys' Basketball

Season: winter sport; regular season runs from mid-November to mid-February.

Schedule: Open until filled

Compensation: Stipend of $2,950-$3,790 per season, depending on experience. (Stipend amount will be prorated on coaches' availability to fulfill season commitment.)

Benefits: This position does not qualify for health insurance or paid leave benefits.

ASSISTANT COACH HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' BASKETBALL

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities: Prepare student athletes for competition through the instruction of skills, strategies and training necessary to realize individual and team success. Provide instruction that will lead to the pride of accomplishment, self-discipline, self-confidence, and good sportsmanship. Consciously model the values of trust and integrity; be a positive role model for students. Ability to work with a team and communicate with supervisor, administrators, staff, students, and community members in a positive manner. Assist with off-season (summer) program. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Knowledge of high school basketball and WIAA rules; previous high school coaching/basketball coaching experience preferred; possess a current CPR/First Aid card or have the ability to complete certification upon hire; must be at least 18 years of age; demonstrate enthusiasm, flexibility, and commitment to students; successful completion of fingerprinting and background check upon employment; successful completion of WIAA rules clinic and concussion training upon employment; certificated personnel preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to bend, stoop, push, and carry items.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.

SUPERVISED AND EVALUATED BY: Athletic Director with input from Head Coach

Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement: The recommended applicant, if not a current employee, will be required to complete USCIS Form I-9 and provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.

Disclosure Statement and Record Check: The recommended applicant, if not a current, regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in Chapter 486, Washington Laws, 1987. In addition, a background check based on fingerprints will be requested from the Washington state Patrol and FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
