Adult Education High School Completion Instructor Organization: Wallingford Adult Education | Wallingford Public Schools Location: 4 Fairfield Blvd., Suite 1, Wallingford, CT Position Type: Part-Time / Adjunct Instructor (Immediate Hire) Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays | 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM | In-person Compensation: $51.00 per hour per contract Reports To: Adult Education Director / Designee Position Overview Wallingford Adult Education is seeking an experienced, student-centered educator for the immediate position of Adult Education High School Completion Instructor. This role provides targeted instruction and academic guidance to adult learners working toward secondary credential completion across multiple pathways, including Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development (GED), Credit Diploma Program (CDP), and the National External Diploma Program (NEDP). The ideal candidate brings a strong commitment to adult learning principles, flexible instructional strategies, and dedication to helping adult students achieve educational and career milestones. Key Responsibilities Targeted Classroom Instruction: Deliver high-quality, differentiated academic instruction in core subject areas tailored to adult learners enrolled in Adult Basic Education (ABE), GED preparation, and Credit Diploma Program (CDP) coursework. NEDP Tutoring: Assist students who are in the NEDP or are attempting to gain entrance into this program. Student Progress & Goal Tracking: Monitor student academic performance, maintain accurate attendance records, and provide continuous feedback to support high school diploma completion. Curriculum Differentiation: Adapt instructional materials to meet diverse learning styles, academic skill levels, and individual educational plans within a multi-pathway adult classroom setting. Supportive Learning Environment: Foster a respectful, motivating, and culturally responsive environment designed to build student confidence and encourage long-term retention. Required Qualifications Certification: Connecticut Endorsement #107 (Adult Education) required, OR eligibility to hold certification with an application currently in process. Program Familiarity: Strong working knowledge of Adult Basic Education (ABE) standards, GED test preparation, basic understanding NEDP competencies, and adult learning principles. High School Completion Experience: Familiarity with Credit Diploma Program (CDP) course requirements and/or National External Diploma Program (NEDP) portfolio framework, along with the ability to teach key writing skills. Communication & Technology: Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency using Google Workspace tools and Google Classroom. Mathematics Proficiency: Strong math skills are necessary to instruct core concepts across high school completion pathways. Preferred Qualifications Prior instructional experience in an adult education, alternative high school, or community college setting. Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish spoken and written).
