Location: St Paul the Apostle Westerville, Ohio
 
Pay Range: $43,000-52,000 (based on experience and education level)

Job Summary:
The High School Discipleship Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating and personally investing in recurring High School Discipleship youth programs, which includes collaborating with the Coordinator of Youth Discipleship and Evangelization to develop programming, offer volunteer formation and training, and plan events. This role aids in the implementation of catechetical and relational programs within a cohesive framework that is conducive to discipleship and relationship with Jesus Christ. This person will report to the Coordinator of Youth Discipleship and Evangelization.


Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

This individual will be required to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the Parish, including work on weekends and evenings. The primary areas of responsibility are:
 
Plan and implement youth formation and activities for High School students and families.

Facilitate weekly social events and oversee weekly discipleship groups for high school students.

Recruit and train volunteers to execute ministry needs including leading small groups, assisting with social events, and hosting student retreats.

Create and execute an annual outreach plan to engage students and parents not currently involved.

Communicate with parents and students about all opportunities and publicize them to the parish through promotion material.

Advocating for a comprehensive vision of youth ministry, based on the 1997 USCCB

document, Renewing The Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry

Attend regular staff meetings and prayer.

Participate in staff planning.

Communicate to staff about high school youth ministry activities.

Be a resource person to parish staff on issues related to youth ministry.

Be a consistent pastoral presence at Mass and parish-wide events.


Organizing and training of volunteers
Assist in the recruitment, formation, and training of parent and event volunteers.

Monthly support and training sessions with leaders and volunteers.

Weekly communication with leaders and volunteers

Assist the Coordinator of Youth Discipleship and Evangelization to ensure that all leaders and volunteers are compliant with diocesan VIRTUS requirements and ongoing formation.


Administrative Tasks
Work with front office staff to schedule all room needs.

Participate in diocesan youth ministry meetings and quarterly regional youth ministry meetings.

Participate in ongoing faith formation and educational opportunities.


Specific Job Skills
Thorough knowledge of the Catholic faith and the ability to communicate it to others

successfully.

Effective oral and written communication and composition skills.

Effective use of communication tools relevant to youth and young adult ministry.

Ability to recruit and empower volunteers and collaborate well with them and others in

carrying out the parish’s mission and the mission of youth ministry.

An understanding of present-day approaches to youth ministry and the ability to research resources for youth ministry.

Build authentic relationships with youth and their parents.

Ability to speak effectively in public.

Collaborative skills that serve to motivate volunteers.

Knowledge of how to use technology and media to communicate the Church’s message.



Education and Experience Requirements

Practicing Catholic in good standing required.

Bachelor’s degree required- theology, catechesis, or similar academic discipline preferred.

Experience working with teens.
