Job Type: Full-time, Nine (9) months (182 days) per year according to PPSB

School Year: 2026-2027

Salary Range: $61,667 - $90,223 for Certified Teachers and $54,560 - $57,970 for Uncertified Teachers (Teachers with Temporary Authorities to Teach - TAT)

Ad Valorem - 2.40 parish property (ad valorem) tax mills are dedicated to employee salaries. The annual receipts from this tax are distributed to employees twice a year, one-half in January and one-half in June. The amount of each employee's supplement is the employee's salary multiplied by the annual percentage (computed each year based on actual tax revenues)

Position Overview:

Belle Chasse High School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered English I Teacher who is passionate about developing strong readers, writers, and critical thinkers. The ideal candidate is committed to high expectations for all students, uses engaging instructional practices, and fosters a positive classroom environment where every student can succeed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach English I courses in accordance with Louisiana Student Standards.
  • Plan and deliver rigorous, engaging lessons that promote reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and critical thinking skills.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of students, including English Learners, students with disabilities, and advanced learners.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Prepare students for success on the LEAP 2025 English I assessment through standards-based instruction and targeted interventions.
  • Integrate technology and instructional resources to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including grades, attendance, and communication with families.
  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom culture built on respect, accountability, and high expectations.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school activities, and other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid LA teaching certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsements.
  • Experience in teaching high school students (preferred, but not required).
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Passion for helping students explore career pathways and succeed in the business world.
