High School Instructional Coach - STEM West Springfield High School

West Springfield Public Schools seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and knowledgeable educator to serve as the STEM Instructional Coach at West Springfield High School. The STEM Instructional Coach is an instructional leader who partners with teachers and administrators to strengthen teaching and learning in mathematics, science, and related STEM disciplines.

Reporting to the High School Principal, the Instructional Coach supports district initiatives, school improvement goals, and the instructional priorities of West Springfield Public Schools. The primary focus of this role is to facilitate instructional coaching cycles and design and deliver high-quality professional learning that improves student outcomes and promotes equitable access to rigorous STEM instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of a strong, collaborative culture focused on high-quality instruction in STEM classrooms.
  • Lead and facilitate instructional coaching cycles, including goal setting, co-planning, modeling, observation, reflection, and feedback.
  • Partner with teachers to strengthen instructional practices with an emphasis on student engagement, conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and achievement.
  • Design and deliver high-quality, data-informed professional development aligned with school and district priorities.
  • Analyze student performance data and classroom evidence to identify instructional trends, strengths, and opportunities for growth.
  • Model effective instructional strategies and provide demonstration lessons in STEM classrooms.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and administrators to align curriculum, instruction, assessment practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of common assessments, instructional resources, and curriculum materials.
  • Promote equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive instructional practices in STEM education.
  • Participate in school and district initiatives, committees, and professional learning opportunities.
  • Communicate regularly with school Principal, Vice Principal of curriculum, department heads, and district leadership regarding instructional priorities and progress.
  • Model professionalism, collaboration, reflective practice, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the High School Principal.

Requirements:

  • Current Massachusetts licensure in Mathematics (5-12), Science (5-12), or a related STEM field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience with evidence of strong instructional practice and positive student outcomes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in effective instructional practices in STEM education.
  • Experience facilitating professional development and adult learning.
  • Experience in instructional coaching, mentoring, curriculum leadership, or related teacher leadership roles preferred.
  • Strong understanding of data-informed instruction, assessment practices, and instructional planning.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in Mathematics and/or Science.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong professional relationships and support educator growth.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and access in STEM education.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, organization, and reflective practice.

Salary: Per Unit A Contract Salary Range: $53,939 - $101,108
