About Pathways High Pathways High is a public charter high school in Milwaukee that emphasizes project-based learning and real-world experiences. We aim to develop students into engaged citizens ready for college and careers through the core elements of interdisciplinary seminars, daily advisory, independent projects, and IMPACT experiences. Pathways High focuses on nurturing individual strengths and passions to unlock students' potential and contribute positively to society. Summary of Position At Pathways High, all teachers collaborate to develop trimester-long interdisciplinary project-based learning seminars that address content area standards. All teachers serve as content-lead for their area of specialty and serve as full-time advisors, which involves guiding a diverse group of mixed-grade students through their learning career. The Life Science Specialist collaborates consistently across disciplines and content areas with other staff and special education staff. Knowledge of teaching science at a high school level and understanding adolescent development is crucial to the success of a candidate in this position. While experience with Project-based learning is preferred, it is not necessary for success in this position. Core Responsibilities Design and implement trimester-long, Project-Based Learning courses. Serve as a full-time advisor, guiding mixed-grade students through their academic and personal development. Build and maintain strong, supportive relationships with students. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement. Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school community. Modify instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students. Develop students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative skills. Assess and provide feedback on student progress to support their growth and learning. Participate in staff professional development, meetings, and other staff events. Work with high school students using an equity-based lens and trauma-informed practices. Supervise at lunch, before, and after school as assigned. Other responsibilities typical of a teacher as assigned. Compensation This is a part time position for the whole school year (about 4 hours per day) with a salary negotiable depending on experience and education.
