Job Title: Maintenance Worker - High School FLSA: Nonexempt

Reports to: Asst. Director, Director Pay Grade: Auxiliary - 3 and Executive Director of Maintenance Calendar Days: 256 Dept./School: Maintenance Department / Assigned High School Revised: 3.17.2025 The High School Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems at assigned high schools and assists with the maintenance of grounds. Education/Certification:

• High school diploma from an accredited high school or GED
• Trade experience is required
• Valid Texas Driver's License
• Eligible for coverage under the district's vehicle insurance program

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• General knowledge of computers
• Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
• General knowledge of other crafts used in building repair and maintenance
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
• Ability to read blueprints and diagrams
• Ability to measure and perform mathematical calculations
• Ability to physically lift 100 pounds
• Ability to work independently
• Knowledge of state and local building codes
• Ability to direct and supervise personnel

Perform repairs and maintenance at the assigned high school, including: o Repairing woodwork o Replacing electrical switches, ballasts, emergency packs, fixtures, and motors o Mixing paint and painting o Repairing and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems o Cutting and replacing ceiling tiles and repairing ceiling grids o Repairing and replacing door hardware and closures o Replacing broken glass

     4. Complete repairs as directed by work orders or the supervisor
     5. Help keep building structures, their mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems, and their grounds in good repair and functioning order to positively support student achievement Facility and Equipment Maintenance
     6. Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs
     7. Move, install, assemble, and repair school furniture and playground equipment as needed
     8. Assist with mowing and detailing of district grounds
     9. Maintain an inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials Safety
     10. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure they are in safe operating condition
     11. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
     12. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including proper lifting and climbing techniques
     13. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor
