Position Details
Farwell High School seeks a highly qualified High School Math Teacher to provide engaging, standards-aligned instruction for students in grades 8-12. The ideal candidate will foster a growth mindset, promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and create a positive classroom culture that encourages student achievement and confidence in mathematics. Courses may include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Personal Finance and other secondary mathematics courses based on certification and school needs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver rigorous mathematics instruction aligned with Michigan Academic Standards.
- Develop engaging lessons that promote conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application of mathematical concepts.
- Utilize data to drive instructional decisions and improve student achievement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of diverse learners.
- Create and maintain a safe, positive, and structured classroom environment.
- Regularly assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Integrate technology and instructional resources to enhance student learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding academic progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide goals and continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Secondary Education, or a related field.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate secondary mathematics endorsement(s).
- Strong knowledge of high school mathematics content and instructional best practices.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to student achievement and educational equity.
Preferred
- Experience teaching high school mathematics.
- Knowledge of intervention strategies and data-driven instruction.
