    High School Baseball Coach

    Position: Head Baseball Coach

    Reports to: Athletic Director

    Compensation: Stipend - TBD (based on district stipend schedule/experience)

    Position Summary

    The Baseball Coach is responsible for organizing, leading, and supervising all aspects of the high school baseball program, including tryouts, practices, games, and player development, while promoting sportsmanship, academic success, and a positive team culture consistent with the school district's mission and athletic policies.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan and conduct practices, drills, and conditioning programs appropriate to player skill level
    • Organize and run tryouts; select and manage team roster
    • Coordinate game schedules, transportation, and facility use with the Athletic Director
    • Supervise student-athletes at all practices, games, and team-related events
    • Teach fundamental skills, strategy, and rules of baseball
    • Monitor and promote student-athletes' academic eligibility and progress
    • Enforce school and district rules regarding conduct, safety, and sportsmanship
    • Manage and maintain equipment, uniforms, and facility (field prep, batting cages, etc.)
    • Communicate regularly with players, parents/guardians, and administration
    • Ensure compliance with state athletic association (e.g., state high school athletic federation) rules and eligibility requirements
    • Attend required coaches' meetings and trainings
    • Maintain CPR/First Aid and any state-mandated coaching certifications
    • Support fundraising and booster club efforts as needed

    Qualifications

    • Prior playing and/or coaching experience in baseball preferred
    • Strong knowledge of baseball rules, strategy, and player safety practices
    • Ability to work with and mentor high school-aged student-athletes
    • Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
    • Completion of state-required coaching education/certification (or willingness to obtain)
    • Background check clearance required
    • Strong communication and organizational skills

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the field for extended periods
    • Ability to demonstrate baseball skills/drills as needed
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

    Compensation

    Stipend amount to be determined based on the district's extracurricular/athletic stipend schedule, years of experience, and position level.
