Qualifications : Education/Certification/Requirements: • High school diploma/equivalent or higher • Bilingual : English and Spanish (preferred) Special Knowledge/Skills: • Demonstrate basic clerical skills • Type a minimum of 40 words per minute preferred • Demonstrate basic computer operation skills • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with district , employees and general public Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Operates telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. 2. Answers callers' questions according to school policy; takes messages for staff members; and pages personne l over the intercom system. 3. Maintains an alphabetical file of staff members' names, room locations, and telephone extensions to expedite relaying of calls. 4. Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs, checks appointments, and directs them to proper person. 5. Responds appropriately to requests for information. 6. Maintains an attractive and comfortable reception area. 7. Reports immediately any suspicious activity or unusual behavior on the part of visitors. 8. Maintains a professional level of confidenti ality regarding personnel matters. 9. Maintains a schedule of appointments and makes arrangements for conferences and interviews. 10. Calls for teacher and auxiliary substitutes when necessary. 11. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the SISD safety program. 12. Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies. 13. Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption of district operations. 14. Performs any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor. 15. Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community, members and any other stakeholders of the district.
