Summary
Grand Ledge High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive learning environment and inspiring high school students to develop a strong understanding and appreciation for the sciences. This full-time position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching and a desire to engage students in hands-on learning experiences.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum goals.
Deliver high-quality instruction in various science subjects, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods and technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and promote student engagement.
Assess student progress through regular evaluations, quizzes, and projects, providing constructive feedback to support student growth.
Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student performance and classroom activities.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on current scientific developments and educational practices.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
Supervise and mentor students during laboratory experiments and field trips, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related field.
Valid teaching certification for high school science in the state of Michigan; endorsement in DA, DC,DE, or DI.
Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and principles across various disciplines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and staff.
Ability to differentiate instruction and accommodate diverse learning needs.
Experience with laboratory safety protocols and equipment.
Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Previous teaching experience at the high school level is preferred but not mandatory.
