Summary

Grand Ledge High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive learning environment and inspiring high school students to develop a strong understanding and appreciation for the sciences. This full-time position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching and a desire to engage students in hands-on learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum goals.

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in various science subjects, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.

  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and promote student engagement.

  • Assess student progress through regular evaluations, quizzes, and projects, providing constructive feedback to support student growth.

  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student performance and classroom activities.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on current scientific developments and educational practices.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and contribute to school-wide initiatives.

  • Supervise and mentor students during laboratory experiments and field trips, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related field.

  • Valid teaching certification for high school science in the state of Michigan; endorsement in DA, DC,DE, or DI.

  • Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and principles across various disciplines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and staff.

  • Ability to differentiate instruction and accommodate diverse learning needs.

  • Experience with laboratory safety protocols and equipment.

  • Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

  • Previous teaching experience at the high school level is preferred but not mandatory.
