PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Destinations Career Academy is seeking a full-time Science Education Teacher-specifically Chemistry and Physics. Well-qualified candidates will hold a current Science Education licensure or be willing to pursue licensure with appropriate applied work experiences that will enhance the classroom experiences for students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required; other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and expand applied and integrated approach to science instruction (project-based learning)
- Provide live and virtual instruction, manage the learning process, grading, course maintenance
- Collaborates with peers to provide a positive experience for students; supports parents with student curricular and instructional issues, balances the flexibility of the curriculum
- Builds community both inside and outside of the classroom
- Participates in both face-to-face and online meetings and trainings, as scheduled
- Some travel required: Professional development, in-person school events, state testing, and graduation activities; additionally connecting with partners weekly
- Orients students to their course, communicates requirements, sets, and enforces deadlines, maintains regular office hours, and conducts instructional sessions
- Understands how both diverse and unique characteristics of students and their families impact required support
- Grades student work and maintains grade book, alerts learning coaches, pathway team, and/or administrators to concerns about student performance and progress, maintains regular contact with students and families
- Able to develop positive and engaging relationships with students and parents
- Is available to students, parents, and staff from 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 601/1601 Broad Field Science License AND one or more of the following 1605 (Biology), 1606 (Life/Environmental Science), 1610 (Chemistry), 1615 (Environmental Studies), 1625 (Physics), or 1637 (Physical Science), AND/OR be willing to pursue additional licensure to be able to teach both Chemistry and Physics
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools
- Innovative approach to supporting student learning
- Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
- Experience teaching applied science interventions and differentiation strategies, data driven instruction
- Ability to effectively communicate in multiple modes
- Understanding and practical application of standards- or competency-based approaches, or willingness to learn
- Dual credit certification/qualified with the Wisconsin Technical College System, or willingness to pursue
NOTICE:
- This is not a position of the McFarland School District and does not have district benefits, including, but not limited to Wisconsin Retirement System eligibility
- This position does have healthcare, vision, dental, 401K, & bonuses
- This is a work from home position, with some travel
- Computer, printer, phone and internet stipend provided
- $50 monthly internet stipend
