Applicants must hold a valid Indiana teaching license. A Special Education license is required. An expanded criminal background check is required.

Job Description:

Cascade High School is seeking a highly qualified and student-centered Special Education Teacher to support students in an inclusive classroom setting. This position will serve high school students and focus on co-teaching, providing individualized instructional assistants as needed, basic skills development, academic support, and transition-related services to help students grow in independence and prepare for post-secondary success.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess outstanding leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred qualifications include an individual who:

• Holds the appropriate license to work with students requiring intensive interventions;
• Has knowledge or demonstrated experience creating and implementing functional curriculum, interventions, accommodations, and supports;
• Has experience supervising and collaborating with paraprofessionals;
• Works well as part of a team with support personnel, related service providers, and school staff;
• Has experience working with general education teachers to modify curriculum, educational goals, and objectives;
• Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and staff;
• Has experience with IIEP and case conference procedures;
• Understands the importance of transition planning, employability skills, and life skills instruction at the high school level.
