Portland Public Schools seeks an innovative and passionate Secondary Special Education Teacher to join our team and enhance the educational experience for our students. The desired candidate would possess the following attributes:
Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
Special Education endorsement in one or more of the following areas:
Learning Disabilities (LD)
Emotional Impairment (EI)
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Ability to facilitate IEP meetings and complete required documentation in compliance with Michigan Special Education Rules and IDEA regulations
Strong foundation in subject area content and Michigan Academic Standards
Ability to utilize assessments and student data to inform and adjust instruction
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners
Demonstrated ability to support and improve student achievement outcomes
Commitment to contributing to a positive school culture with high expectations, collaboration, and strong community engagement
