The County of Riverside's Transportation (TLMA) department is currently seeking a paid High School Student Intern.
The in-person student internship position is based in Riverside County and offers a flexible work week consisting of approximately 4-6 hours per week, with flexibility granted around academic obligations. The selected candidate can anticipate the internship to start in May and run through August.
County Surveyor sponsored internship program to introduce local high school students to real-world careers in surveying, GIS, transportation, and public infrastructure. Inspired by the educational mission of Get Kids into Survey ( getkidsintosurvey.com ) and aligned with Riverside County's commitment to providing a safe, efficient, and convenient transportation system. This internship offers students a hands-on exposure to the people, tools, and processes behind the County's transportation network.

This program aims to build early workforce pathways to surveying, an industry facing widespread aging workforce with low course enrollment numbers.Under supervision, assists and participates in the work performed by employees of a specific profession; Through participation, receive supervised work experience in a specific professional vocation, and performs other related duties as required.

The intern will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Identifying core surveying tools and interpret basic field notes
  • Understanding how survey data supports infrastructure development
  • Recognizing road design elements and safety features
  • Learning standard field procedures and workplace readiness skills
Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average : 2.5 GPA required. Proof of most current high school transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at time of application .

Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled/attending school as a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in High School.

Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications: Preference will be given to students of local school districts.What's Next?
