High School Tutor

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Education Coordinator, this position is responsible for the tutoring/assistance of all Cocopah children of High School age.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Tutoring of High School students as needed.

Monitor the progress of students by visiting the campus where the students are attending classes.

Maintains contact with parents and informs them of their student's progress, and identifies problem areas.

Works with High School Advisor to develop individual tutoring plans to assist the students in correcting problems that may impair or hinder their educational progress.

Assists where directed with the Education Department's summer programs.

Prepares and submits reports to the Director and performs other duties as required.

Other duties may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to communicate, both orally and in written form, clearly and effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to work independently and possess a solid working knowledge of the educational process.
• Knowledge of the Cocopah Tribe/Native American customs.
• Successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment and ongoing random drug/alcohol testing.
• Must be able to undergo and pass a BIA/FBI fingerprint background investigation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must meet Tribal vehicle insurance requirements.
• Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License.
• Must be first aid/CPR certified.
• Must possess a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Associate's degree in a related field or trade school, professional or technical certification, specialized training
• 6-month specialized work experience, 2 years of work experience in a related field, or 2 years of general or supervisory work experience
