Position Details
The Higher Education Specialist supports the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of dual enrollment programs serving high school students. This position works collaboratively with secondary school partners, college faculty, admissions and records, counseling, andinstructional staff to ensureequitable access, smoothenrollmentprocesses, and high-qualitystudent support. Inaddition, the Specialist provides advising and guidance to students and families regarding post-secondary pathways, courseselection,policies,andtransitiontopostsecondaryeducation,whilealsoensuringcompliancewith state, district, and institutional requirements.
Essential Functions - Typical Duties
Coordinateday-to-dayoperationsofdualenrollmentprogramsincollaborationwithK-12districts,
schoolsites,andcollege faculty.
TheSpecialistensurescompliancewithCaliforniaEducationCode,CCAPagreements,FERPAregulations,
data-sharingagreements,andallapplicabledistrictandcollegepolicies.
Leadcontinuousimprovementeffortsanddevelopannualprogramgoalsforschoolsitedualenrollment programs.
Serveasapointofcontactforhighschooladministrators,counselors,teachers,andcollegefaculty regarding dual enrollment processes and timelines.
Supportthedevelopmentandmaintenanceofdualenrollmentagreements,MOUs,andcourse offerings in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Assistwithscheduling,coursesectioncreation,instructoronboarding,andstudentregistration workflows to ensure that all deadlines are met.
Planandimplementoutreach,recruitment,andinformationalworkshopsforstudentsandfamilies. Monitor enrollment, attendance, grades, and program outcomes to support student success by providing interventions when needed.
Referstudentstocounseling,tutoring,financialaid,disabilitysupportservices,andotherresources as appropriate.
Providetrainingandtechnicalassistancetohighschoolstaff,counselors,andinstructorson dual enrollment processes and updates.
Provideeducationalplanningguidanceandpathwayadvisingconsistentwithdistrictguidelines and
underthesupervisionofcredentialedcounselorswhererequired.
Supportstudentsandfamilieswithadmissions,orientation,registration,andenrollment requirements.
Support transition from high school into full-time or part-time college enrollmentafter graduation. Maintainaccuratestudentandprogramrecordsusingstudentinformationsystemsandreportingtools. Compile data for internal analysis, grants, audits, and state or district reporting.
Assistwithprogramevaluation,surveys,andoutcometracking.
Proactivelyidentifyandreducebarrierstoaccessforlow-income,first-generation, multilingual, foster youth, and other historically underserved students.
Analyzecoursesuccessrates,persistencedata,andequitygapsinparticipationandoutcomes; develop site-level performance summaries and support annual dual enrollment reporting.
Exerciseindependentjudgmentinresolvingenrollment,scheduling,andcomplianceissues across K-12 and higher education systems.
Otherdutiesasassigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
Education:
Bachelor'sDegreefromanaccreditedcollegeoruniversity
Experienceworkingwithdualenrollment,admissions,collegeadvising,outreach,orstudent services.
Experience working with high school and/or college-aged students. Knowledgeofcollegeenrollmentprocessesandstudentsupportservices. Experience:
ExperienceworkinginacommunitycollegeorK-12/collegepartnershipenvironment.
Advising or counseling experience with diverse student populations. Familiaritywithstatedualenrollmentlegislationandreportingrequirements.
Experienceusingstudentinformationsystems(e.g.,Banner,Aeries,Canvas,orsimilar). Bilingual speaking skills (preferred, not required).
