Highway Technician 5 - Construction, Medina County, PN 20053055

What You Will Do:

• You will serve the public to improve Ohio's transportation system and make it safer.
• You will be a lead inspector on a complex project or multiple routine construction projects ensuring compliance with ODOT plans, specifications, and standards to deliver quality projects on Ohio's transportation system.
• You will perform material field testing and quality control for materials on construction projects.
• You will utilize equipment and vehicles to perform duties for snow and ice operations in assigned county.
• You will perform various maintenance activities and perform lead worker duties for maintenance operations in assigned county.
• You will mentor lower-level Highway Technicians in construction inspection and maintenance operations.

Successful completion of all Highway Technician level 1, 2, 3, & 4 courses (i.e., construction/field &/or lab track) & construction experience requirements per the current Highway Technician MOU between ODOT & OCSEA/AFSCME; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I, Aggregate Level 1, & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver's license.

• Or completion of associate core program in construction technology or comparable core program; 18 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver's license.
• Or completion of certification program from National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET); 24 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver's license.
• Or 36 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver's license.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
