The Foreman is an hourly position and reports to assigned shift shipping supervisor. A Foreman is a skilled lead responsible for overseeing manufacturing, or other work projects. This role involves coordinating tasks, ensuring safety, and facilitating efficient project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee tasks and a team of workers, including assigning tasks, and providing guidance.
- Ensure that team members follow safety protocols and work efficiently.
- Collaborate with managers or supervisors to allocate resources to meet project goals.
- Coordinate and schedule tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives.
- Ensure that materials, equipment, and tools are available when needed.
- Oversee work quality and ensure that projects meet quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct inspections and address any issues promptly.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols and practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Maintain open and effective communication with managers, supervisors, and team members.
- Report project progress, issues, and changes to department heads.
- Identify and resolve project-related issues, conflicts, or obstacles in a timely manner.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Identify training needs and recommend relevant programs.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (relevant certifications, trade qualifications, or additional education may be preferred).
- Strong technical knowledge related to the specific industry or trade.
- Leadership and team skills, including the ability to motivate and guide workers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in using industry-specific tools, equipment, and software.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the specific industry.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions or physically demanding environments.
- Minimum age: 18
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- May be required to lift, carry, and lower items 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually for the duration of the shift.
- Must be able to work in very hot (more than 100 degrees) and very cold (less than 20 degrees below zero) and in a very wet and humid environment for extended periods. Exposed to noise/vibration, and chemicals.
- Required to Stand, walk, climb, bend, twist, push and pull, and reach above and below the shoulder.
- Repetition-Hand/Wrist Simple Grasping, Firm grasping.
