Compensation: $29.00/hr.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
Certification: RHIA or RHIT required

JOB SUMMARY
The HIM Analyst is responsible for validating, processing, and sending copies of medical records for Atlantic Health facilities, including Atlantic Medical Group, Primary Care Partners, and Atlantic Health Partners.
This position processes releases of medical information accurately and efficiently while ensuring timely service, protecting patient information, and providing a high level of customer service.
Job Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Verify the authenticity of authorizations prior to processing, focusing on all required elements of the authorization.
• Answer telephone calls courteously and professionally for both internal and external customers.
• Retrieve, sort, and stamp incoming mail in preparation for logging and invoicing.
• Retrieve incoming faxes and organize faxed documents with daily mail in chronological order for processing.
• Log all releases of medical information in the ROI tracking system, including requestor, address, date sent, and type of documents released.
• Password-protect electronic media and certify medical records when requested or required.
• Process in-person requests during operating hours, including accepting and logging payments by cash, check, or credit card and validating customer identity.
• Process incoming checks and validate medical records in printed or electronic form prior to final release.
• Track and order office supplies for the department.
• Forward questionable or potentially problematic release-of-information requests to the HIM Supervisor before releasing any information.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
• RHIA or RHIT certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting working with electronic medical record systems.
• Associate degree in Health Information Technology or bachelor's degree in Health Information Management; OR High School Diploma with a minimum of 2 years of healthcare work experience.
• Ability to work independently while exercising critical thinking and managing frequent task interruptions.
• Ability to effectively multitask while maintaining accuracy and a positive, helpful attitude.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a high volume of incoming calls throughout the shift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy when processing medical records and release requests.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience processing Release of Information (ROI) requests.
• Experience working with electronic medical records.
• AHIMA credential.
