Job Title: HIM Manager / Privacy Officer

OVERVIEW
TalentFish is casting a line for an HIM Manager / Privacy Officer. This is a 6-month Contract role based 100% on-site in Livingston, MT. This position exists to oversee the daily operations of the Health Information Management Department and to serve as the organization's designated Privacy Officer, ensuring the appropriate access, use, disclosure, confidentiality, and security of protected health information.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE. (IDEAL EXPERIENCE)
- 2+ years of medical coding experience required.
- Previous HIM leadership, privacy, compliance, release of information, and Critical Access Hospital or Rural Health Clinic experience strongly preferred.
- Healthcare privacy, compliance, coding, or HIM certification (e.g., CHPS, CHPC, CHC, CPCO) preferred, or willingness to obtain within a reasonable period of time.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA Privacy requirements, HIPAA Security concepts, release of information standards, and applicable state and federal health information regulations.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive and confidential matters professionally.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL DO. (SKILLS USED IN THIS POSITION)
- Manage the daily operations of the HIM Department, including medical record management, release of information, chart analysis, coding oversight, chart completion, and patient portal workflows.
- Serve as the organization's designated Privacy Officer, overseeing the HIPAA privacy program.
- Lead privacy investigations, breach assessments, audits, and required regulatory reporting.
- Develop and maintain HIM and privacy-related policies and procedures in compliance with HIPAA and applicable state and federal law.
- Oversee departmental staffing, budgeting, productivity, quality, and regulatory compliance, including preparation of the annual operating and capital budget.
- Collaborate with Compliance, IT, Patient Financial Services, Registration, HR, Administration, and clinical leadership on privacy and HIM matters.
- Oversee patient portal privacy matters, including patient access, proxy access, and identity verification.
- Support Tumor Registry and Vital Records data submission and timely filing.
SCHEDULE
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This is a 100% on-site position.
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The estimated bill rate for this position is $75-77 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This rate is all-inclusive; there is no separate allowance for reimbursable expenses (travel, lodging, meals, etc.).
This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
