About the Opportunity

The Staff Pad has partnered with a respected hospital in beautiful Las Vegas, New Mexico to hire a dedicated PRN Health Information Management (HIM) Technician. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a detail-oriented environment and wants to play a vital role in supporting quality patient care behind the scenes.

As an HIM Technician, you’ll help ensure patient medical records are accurate, secure, and accessible while supporting the daily operations of the Health Information Management department. If you are passionate about organization, confidentiality, and healthcare operations, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact within a collaborative hospital setting.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain, organize, and file patient medical records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
  • Retrieve and distribute medical records to authorized personnel in a timely manner
  • Review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance using established quality control procedures
  • Scan, index, and upload documentation into electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Process medical record requests while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations
  • Respond to phone calls, inquiries, and departmental requests with professionalism and urgency
  • Support daily HIM operations to help ensure seamless patient care coordination
  • Stay informed on evolving HIM regulations, policies, and industry best practices

What We Are Looking For

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Additional coursework or training in Health Information Management or healthcare administration is a plus

Experience

  • Previous experience in health information management, medical records, or a healthcare administrative setting preferred
  • Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems strongly valued

Certifications and Licenses

  • RHIT, RHIA, or related HIM certifications are a plus, but not required

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable using office technology and EHR Systems
