Job Title: Database Administrator (CockroachDB)
Location: Onsite San Francisco Bay Area, CA
Employment Type: Contract
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in modern database technologies and hands-on experience with CockroachDB. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, performance tuning, monitoring, security, and high availability of distributed database environments. This is an onsite role based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Required Skills & Experience
5 10 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
2 5 years of hands-on experience with CockroachDB (Required).
Strong understanding of distributed SQL databases and database architecture.
Experience with database installation, configuration, upgrades, and migrations.
Expertise in database performance tuning, optimization, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Experience implementing backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
Knowledge of database security, access control, and compliance best practices.
Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, administer, and maintain CockroachDB clusters.
Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues.
Optimize SQL queries and database configurations for maximum performance and scalability.
Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
Ensure database security, integrity, and availability.
Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure teams to support production environments.
Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
Develop and maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and standards.
Provide production support and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
