Key Responsibilities
As a Histology Associate, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue specimens and supporting laboratory operations. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination
- Embed tissue specimens and assist with specimen preparation activities
- Operate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on histology laboratory equipment
- Support pathologists and laboratory staff during specimen analysis processes
- Follow established quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results
- Maintain compliance with laboratory standards, protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Adhere to all laboratory safety procedures and guidelines
- Remain on your feet for extended periods while performing laboratory tasks
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- 0-5 years of experience in a laboratory, histology, or related scientific environment
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Understanding of industry best practices and laboratory procedures
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and reliable
Preferred
- Previous laboratory experience
- Histotechnician (HT) certification
- Histotechnologist (HTL) certification
- Certification in Histotechnology or a related field
