You Will:
Perform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, case organization in accordance with department procedures.
Assure positive sample, block and slide identification
Prepare and maintains reagents for routine stains and histology procedures.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.
Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.
You Should Have:
High School Diploma required
Associate’s degree preferred
Minimum one year experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred
State license where required(CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV)
General knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes
Ability to follow protocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples
Ability to consistently prepare and produce specimen sections with appropriate slide orientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist
Demonstrates good technique in the cutting, embedding, orientation and staining of specimens
General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements
Excellent communication, team work and organizational skills. Sets a positive example.
