Position Overview
- Provide engaging, standards-aligned instruction in History and Social Justice to middle and high school students.
- Develop and deliver lessons that encourage critical thinking, strong reading and writing skills, and meaningful discussion of history, civil rights, and social issues.
- Create a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement, academic growth, and a love of learning.
- Collaborate with fellow educators and school staff to support student success and contribute to a strong school community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification (Preferred)
- Non-certified candidates must have at least 12 college credits in History, Social Studies, ELA, or a related subject area and must submit a copy of their transcript
- 1+ years of teaching experience in History, Social Studies, ELA, or a related subject area at the middle or high school level, preferably in an urban school setting
