Wareham Public Schools is seeking a History Teacher to join the faculty at Wareham High School for the upcoming school year. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about engaging students in the study of history and social sciences while fostering critical thinking, thoughtful discussion, and meaningful connections between the past and the present. The successful candidate will create an inclusive and engaging learning environment that inspires curiosity, encourages academic excellence, and prepares students to become informed, responsible, and active members of their communities.

Essential Responsibilities Facilitate the planning, implementation, and completion of the Grade 8 Civics Project for all Grade 8 students within assigned cohorts. Develop engaging, standards-based lesson plans aligned with the Massachusetts History and Social Science Curriculum Frameworks. Collaborate with department members on curriculum development, instructional planning, and vertical alignment across grade levels. Provide differentiated instruction through whole-class, small-group, and individualized learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of all students. Design learning activities that connect historical events and concepts to real-world applications and contemporary issues. Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and productive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and academic success. Assess and monitor student progress in both content knowledge and 21st-century skills, using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies. Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, counselors, and support staff to promote student achievement and address academic or social-emotional concerns. Identify student learning needs and collaborate with school personnel to support student success through appropriate interventions and services. Participate in curriculum development, school improvement initiatives, and departmental planning. Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, parent conferences, 504 meetings, IEP meetings, and other student support meetings as required. Maintain professional competence through district-sponsored professional development and self-directed learning opportunities.

Teaching Assignment Teach six sections of social studies, which include: World History United States History I United States, Massachusetts Government, and Civics AP Psychology
