Histotechnician

Job Title: Grossing Histotechnician 

Job Location: Baton Rouge, LA 

Schedule: Day shift, flexible

Weekly Estimated Pay or Pay Range: $22 to $30 per hour DOE

Qualifications:  

• Embedding and Microtomy
• 1-3 years of grossing experience 
• Strong reading, writing, communication and analytical skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Select and submit representative tissue sections into cassettes
• Perform histology functions including tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy.
• Ensure proper specimen identification, labeling, and documentation
• Grossing of specimens
• Receive, examine, and gross surgical pathology specimens according to established protocols
• Maintain gross room organization, cleanliness, and instrument readiness
• Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards
• Communicate effectively with pathologists, PAs, and laboratory staff regarding specimen needs or discrepancies
