Histotechnician

Job Title: Histotechnician 

Job Location: Salem, OR 

Dates: June 29 - August 7

Schedule: 5:30a -2p

Weekly Estimated Pay or Pay Range: $2,100 to $2,300

Qualifications:  

• Minimum of 6 months of hands-on histology laboratory experience, including embedding and microtomy
• HT or HTL certification preferred; completion of a Histotechnology program may be accepted in lieu of experience
• Strong reading, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to safely operate general laboratory equipment

Preferred:

• ASCP HT/HTL certification or a graduate from a school of Histotechnology accredited by CAHEA/NAACLS.

• Documented special stain and immunohistochemistry experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine histology procedures including tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy
• Prepare and stain slides according to established laboratory protocols
• Ensure accurate specimen identification, labeling, and documentation throughout the process
• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment safely and efficiently
• Adhere to all laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory standards
• Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and resolving workflow challenges as needed
• Collaborate with pathologists, PAs, and laboratory staff to support timely and accurate patient results
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
