Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Histology Manager and Supervisor, the Histotechnologist processes to paraffin, embeds, sections and stains tissue specimens for microscopic diagnosis and/or research. Performs H&E and special stains according to established protocols. Maintains workload, deadline, quality control and other logs as needed. Interacts with faculty, residents and grossing personnel to solve any problems regarding work lists and other orders. Works overtime, holidays, weekends and on-call as needed. Maintains a clean and properly maintained work area. Willingness to work independently as well as contribute to the goals of a team environment. Adheres to all Hospital and university policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

HT or HTL certification

High School Diploma or Equivalent

5+ years experience in Histology

As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.

Current/former UC employees are subject to a personnel file review.
